DEVELOPMENT VIRTUAL MODEL OF THE RT-16 RADIO TELESCOPE AND PROTOTYPE CREATION USING A 3D PRINTER

Abstract


Radio telescope’s positioning and rotation by a moving object is complicated process which requires strict accuracy. Researchesmade in the real environment takes a lot of time and their costs are high. To reduce the costs of researches, transferring theseoperations into a virtual environment or applying it to the small prototype is needed. In this paper is discussed the development ofsimplified virtual model of RT-16 radio telescope and creation of prototype using 3D printer technology. Simplified model andprototype can be used to control the radio telescope reflector’s (antenna’s) rotation angle or positioning by creating algorithms. Infuture these algorithms may be tested and applied to the real telescope.
