Abstract


The causes of defect appearance on rail can be different: climate conditions, track gauge widening, soil dynamics, operational age,contact weariness and etc.After analysis of scientific works, it can be said that each upper track structure element and rolling stock structure influences tracklongevity and desired level of operating.Rails directly interact with the rolling stock. In case of damage in the wheels or rails, normal stresses are formed in the contact zone,contact forces, that are transferred from the wheel rail and vice versa, appear. The size of contact forces depend on the load. Due tothe effect of these forces, defects in axles of the wheels or rails form. Therefore it is necessary to examine the interaction betweendifferent road and rolling stock construction elements, search for their improvement options.As software technologies develop, it is possible to get calculation results that are more accurate. By using Finite element methods,contact processes can be described more precisely.A moving railway train wheel and the road dynamic studies, in the vertical plane, were performed. Railway wheelset wheel – railcontact is examined as an elastic interaction of two flat bodies. The created BE model examines the forces acting in wheel – railcontact zone the during the impact. Impact strength variation is considered as a function of time.
