Tradicijos: etnologų, antropologų metodologijos ir tyrimai

Vida Savoniakaitė

Tradition is a broad concept. Tradition is the part of human identity. In discourses of Lithuanian ethnology the concept is wide-split and close connected with the history of ethnic culture. Traditions communicate in historical and modern ethnic processes. ‘Invention of tradition’ is well known and evident. Contemporary discussions in human and social sciences have different opinions on research of traditions history and perspectives. The ethnographic approach in Lithuania defines traditions by family life as well as the customs. We can arise the question, how intervene tradition, and modernity in contemporary concepts of tradition? The paper will discuss methodological approaches to tradition; theoretical discourses will be analyzed by comparison with ethnographical research. KEY WORDS: ethnicity, identity, modernity, postmodernism, tradition.
